Altec Lansing® Professional Unveils Updated CD912-8A Ceiling Speakers, Featuring Improved High Fidelity Performance
Industry-Leading Product Used Around the World in Hotels, Airports, Houses of Worship; New Version Ideal for Music as Well as Voice Applications
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Sept. 18, 2002 - Altec Lansing® Professional, the newly-established pro audio division of leading speaker manufacturer Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc., announced today its new CD912-8A twelve-inch Duplex® ceiling speaker. Altec Lansing labeled twelve-inch Duplex speakers are the most popular hotel ballroom speakers in the world. The new CD912-8A builds on this heritage with improved high fidelity performance at 2KHz. Because it is more directive in the voice range, speech is highly intelligible even in reverberant spaces and high ceiling applications.
"We have listened to the new CD912-8A side-by-side to the previous generation Altec Lansing twelve-inch speaker, and the difference in audio performance is dramatic, particularly on music program material," said John Sexton, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Altec Lansing Professional. The CD912-8A is rated at 125 watts EIA power handling, with peak performance of 500 watts. The frequency response is 70Hz - 20KHz @ -3dB. Charlie Hughes, Altec Lansing's new Chief Engineer for Professional Audio Products, states that the improvements in the CD912-8A's tweeter assembly and crossover network have resulted in greatly improved high frequency performance and better mid-band sensitivity. The CD912-8A maintains its efficiency when used in a sealed enclosure as small as two cubic feet in volume.
Optional 16W and 32W 70V/100V transformers are available from Altec Lansing Professional. Both transformers are rated from 50Hz - 15KHz, with only a .6dB insertion loss.
