Altec Lansing Unveils New CD1012-8A
Premium Duplex® Ceiling Speaker
High-Performance Product Builds on Industry-Leading Expertise,
Offering Point-Source Large Format Compression Driver and 12-Inch Woofer
LAS VEGAS, NV - INFOCOMM BOOTH # 3181- June 8, 2005 — Altec Lansing Professional today announced it has expanded its offering of best-selling Duplex® speakers for high ceiling applications with the debut of its new CD1012-8A speaker. Joining the CD912-8B, the world’s most popular 12” ceiling speaker, the CD1012-8A is a 12”/300mm Duplex® ceiling speaker with a unique single magnet structure design. The unit combines a 12” high efficiency woofer and a 1.4” exit throat high frequency compression driver mated to a 90° conical horn for exceptional voice and music reproduction.
“The advantage of the CD1012 in a high ceiling application is the large format high frequency compression driver. A large format HF compression driver has a robust sound that punches music and speech down to ear level from a high ceiling,” explains Gary Jones, Altec’s Applications Manager.
Power handling is rated at 300W AES and 1200W peak. Frequency response is 70 Hz – 16 kHz @ -3 dB and sensitivity is 97 dB SPL @ 1W/1m. The 60W premium transformer on the CD1012-60T has a broadband insertion loss of < 1.0 dB. The CD1012-8A has an on-board passive network that fits around the back cover “donut-style”. This low-profile design allows the CD1012-8A to fit into any industry-standard 3.0 cubic foot metal enclosure like the Altec model CE12S-3 square backbox.
“With the addition of the CD1012-8A to our premium ceiling speaker product line, Altec Lansing now has the industry’s best combination of performance and value for high performance distributed speaker systems,” offers John Sexton, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
